Exploring new routes. Using materials smarter. Making circularity real.
On November 20, we challenged the dredging sector — at the invitation of the platform Maintenance in Dredging — to explore new routes and use materials more intelligently. Our goal? To firmly put circular thinking on the map, with concrete examples and practical insights to help others get started themselves. Not only is it necessary, but above all, it is strategically smart.
And we didn’t do this alone but with two frontrunners in the sector
Jorn Bertens, Manager Procurement & Supply Chain at Van Oord, shared valuable practical experience from shipbuilding and marine engineering. In his session on circularity and TSHDs, he offered insights for anyone looking to apply circular thinking in technical and maritime projects.
Mischa Habermehl, Manager Solutions Hybrid & Power Conversion at Alewijnse, demonstrated how smart engineering can lead to fewer cables, less copper, lower maintenance costs and a smaller ecological footprint without compromising functionality.
Many thanks to everyone for this inspiring evening and the great conversations around the table. And special thanks to Hilde Mol-Lukkezen and Julien Raes for the excellent organisation.
The core principle remains: Smart use of materials = smart business.
