Dynamic employee gatherings as a kickstarter for a future-proof Loodswezen (pilotage service) !
For Nederlands Loodswezen (Dutch Pilots Association), a future-proof operation – sustainable in every way – is central. To not only get this theme on everyone’s agenda, but also to really involve the organization, we set up two dynamic employee gatherings as a kickstarter of a larger sustainability program.
On the verge of defining what developments such as autonomous shipping and sustainability imply, Loodswezen challenged us to inspire, collect input and discuss with all employees. From operational staff to MT members. The gatherings intended to create a basis for the pilotage’s vision in 2050, the steps to get there and, above all, to generate energy and enthusiasm to play an active role in this.
Under guidance of the Maritime Sisters, both the Pilots and the employees of the Loodswezen BV were challenged to discuss the future, new technologies and the role that the Pilotage Service can and wants to fulfill. We have actively involved various stakeholders, including the regional chairmen, to show what is already happening and to use the available knowledge, experience and above all motivation to gather themes and ambassadors.
Stimulated by how Lightyear shakes up the automotive industry and how Lely reinvents itself – by external speakers Tom Selten and Joyce Bliek – we got people in the right mode. Both speakers recommended and approached by the Maritime Sisters. A graphic facilitator drafted the foundation for the 2050 vision. Louwman Museum as a location completed the picture.
About Loodswezen
Nederlands Loodswezen is the organisation which contributes to the safe and efficient handling of shipping traffic. Their main task is to guide more than 90,000 sea-going vessels a year which are subject to compulsory pilotage into and out of the Dutch and Flemish seaports. To this extent, they are on call 24 hours a day in all weather conditions. Their expertise dates back four hundred years. Four centuries of Dutch shipping history.
Nederlandse Loodswezen BV (NLBV) is an organisation which focuses specifically on supporting registered pilots in the execution of their professional duties. Their services consist of administrative tasks and transporting pilots to and from sea-going ships. With some 400 dedicated employees, they offer these services round the clock. NLBV does this from the office in Hook of Holland and four regions.
